🇪🇺 Yesterday we had the pleasure of attending a seminar on Climate action across the Forest-Based value chain at the EU Commission Representation Office in Stockholm together with several Swedish and Finish leaders active within the forest value chain. 🇸🇪 🇫🇮
We discussed opportunities, challenges and innovative solutions for how we can work together for a circular bioeconomy, and drive Europe’s climate transition whilst ensuring long-term resilient forests. The regulatory and policy landscape within the Green Deal, including the Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Certification Framework (CRCF), provide core pillars for operators throughout the forest value chain🌲🌳
EU Commissioner for Climate Action, Net Zero & Clean Growth, Wopke Hoekstra, inspired with his Keynote speech on the targets for 2040 and 2050, and the important role of forests as strategic assets and carbon sinks in the climate transition.
The panel discussions focused on the topics of biogenic carbon and industrial innovation, as well as valorising carbon and biodiversity as assets for resilient forests.
Christian Holzleitner (Head of Unit) Land Economy & Carbon Removals at DG Clima (Directorate-General for Climate Action), concluded the seminar with insights for future EU policy.
The event was moderated expertly by Frida Sund Falkevik.
