Initiative 1415 participates in SIS/TK 623 Committee for Biodiversity Standards

Biodiversity is crucial for stable ecosystems. International standards will play an important role in the future, and through SIS/TK 623 Biodiversity, Swedish organizations influence international work.

In recent years, awareness of issues related to biodiversity has increased, and the subject has received more attention in politics, the media, and the business community. Within global standardization efforts, an ISO-committee has been established with the aim of developing comprehensive and global standards for biodiversity.

Through ISO standards, the aim is to work towards the development of a clear, global, and consistent understanding of biodiversity. Questions about how it should be defined and measured within specific biotopes will be discussed.

The advantage of working globally with biodiversity is that we enable a common understanding of, and methodology for, pressing issues that have so far been limited to various national working methods. Biodiversity Assessments and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting & Verification) are cornerstones of the work and processes to come.

When it comes to processes, it remains central to address local conditions for biodiversity and how they can be preserved and enhanced in the best ways possible.
